1st Series

Welcome to the first day of the 2019 National Retriever Championship! The temperature this morning is a cool, crisp 45 degrees with an expected high of 80 degrees.

Test 1 is a Land Double with a Flyer. Both birds will be rooster pheasants. The mat is on the side of a shallow bowl facing south.

Bird #1 is at the bottom of this bowl. The gunners stand to the right of a clump of trees that dot the rim of a dried up pond. This bird is thrown to the right angled back, landing in heavy dry cover at the base of the next clump of trees. This bird is thrown towards the back of the flyer guns and lands 130 yards from the line.

Bird #2 is the rooster pheasant flyer. The guns are on the rim opposite the mat. This bird is shot and thrown to the right landing at the top rim of this bowl 170 yards away. The line to this bird is down through straw-like cover over terrain that is "bumpy" and uneven. These bumps are small moguls.

Left Retired – 130 yards  ...... Right Flyer – 170 yards
