It's A Wrap! - Day Two of 9th Series In The Books

That was quick!!! Our three dogs #87 (7:12 am), #39, #41, run the 9th series and it did so in 21 minutes.

We will bring you the callbacks when we get them!! The off to the 10th SERIES!!!

The excitement is real!!! Who is ready to see what the judges have in store for 10th series, and what dog will prevail as the 2019 National Field Champion!!!!

9th Series – End of Day 7

Day seven has come to an end at 4:49 pm with the bye dog "Kevin."

Dog #34 finished the our 7th day out. We had a 50 minute drive to move back to the grounds in Corning California which held the 9th series Water Triple test. We started this test with 18 dogs and Dog # 47 Google and Alan Pleasant kicked it off at 3:06 pm.

It took 1 hours 43 minutes to run 15 dogs, which is about approximately 7 minutes per dog.

We will be back here tomorrow morning with three dogs left to finish the 9th series. The dogs are #87, 39 and  41.

It's A Wrap - 8th Series In The Books

It is official...The 8th Series is in the books after dog #87 Petey with handler Alan Pleasant completed their test at 1:19 pm.

We started this series yesterday, Thursday, November 14 at 12:53 pm and called it a day after dog #33 Rusty and Sharon van der Lee finished their test at 4:29 pm. We came back to Anderson this morning with dog #34 Gus and Dave Smith starting us out at 7:14 am.

We started this test with 38 dogs that took 9 hours 27 minutes to run, which took approximately 15 minutes per dog.

We had four gun changes during the duration of this test.

The challenging 8th Series looked like this...

We have 13 dogs going into the 9th Series without a handle.

There will be a bit of a break as we are moving back to Corning to start our 9th Series. It is about a 50 minute drive.

End Of Day 6 - November 14, 2019

The judges have called it a day at 4:29 pm.

We started the 8th Series at 12:53 with dog #89 and finished the day with dog #33. We had 14 dogs come to the line in 3 hours 22 minutes which is approximately 14.5 minutes per dog.

We will be back here tomorrow to finish the 8th Series with dog #34 starting at 7:00 am. One test dog will come to the line at 6:45 am.

It's a Wrap - Series 7 - Water Blind

Our Seventh Series Water Blind came to an end with dog #73 finishing their test at 11:26 am.

We started the morning off with dog #74 at 7:12 am.

We had one dog that was a "No Go," and another that picked up.

We are staying in this area for Series 8.

It's A Wrap - 6th Series - Game Over

This is it for the day. The 6th Series and the 5th day of the 2019 NRC Championship is in the books at 3:47 pm.

Today we started at 7:03 to finish the 5th series that was completed at 11:39 am. The judges called back 58 dogs to the 6th series. With the line for the 6th series moving only about 20 yards from the 5th series we made quick work to kick off the 6th series at 12:38 pm. We had 58 dogs complete this series in 3 hours 9 minutes which is approximately 3 1/4 minutes per dog.

The judges are going to another test sight and will be doing the callbacks after that. We will post the callbacks as soon as we get them from the judges.

The next series will be in Anderson, CA. Exit 664 at Gas Point Road. The adjacent property is 4506 Panorama Point Road.

Test Dogs at 6:30 am. The first running dog will announced with callbacks.

In The Books - Series 5

Series 5 is in the books at 11:39 am with dog #29 Champ, and Eric Fangsrud completing their test.

We started Series 5 on Tuesday, November 12 at 7:09 am with dog #31. We finished the first day of testing with dog #99 at 4:40 pm. Today, our second day of this test started with dog #94 at 7:03 am.

Between the two days it took 14 hours 7 minutes for 81 dogs to complete this series. That is approximately 10.5 minutes per dog.

Day 4 Is Completed - Recap

The judges have called it a day after dog #99 Pulp finished his test at 4:40 pm.

Dog #94 was in the blind for a rerun, so #94 Maggie with handler Charles Moody will be our first running dog tomorrow. Followed by #96 Tru and Chris Ledford then #2 Floyd with Bart Peterson.

In this last section of dogs that completed their test since the last gun change at 12:13 pm, we had 23 dogs complete their test. We ran for 4 hours 27 minutes which means our time per dog are approximately 11 minutes per dog. In this section we had 7 No Birds and 5 Reruns (including the left over rerun from before the gun change). We also had 5 handles and 1 pick up!

Here is what the day looked like.

We started at 7:09 am with dog #31 starting the fifth series. We had gun changes after dog #46 at 9:44 am and after dog #65 at 12:13 pm. We ended after dog #99 at 4:40 pm. This is a total running time of 9 hours 31 minutes. We had a total of 54 dogs complete their test and it took approximately 10.5 minutes per dog.

In The Books - 4th Series - End of Day 3

The 4th Series is officially in the books at 3:48 pm on Monday, November 11 with the bye dog "Joe" and handler Jim Cope taking the flyer.

We started this series on Sunday, November 10 at 2:39 pm with dog #6 being our first running dog. We stopped running dogs at 4:51 pm yesterday with dog #24 being the last dog to run. Today, the second day of this test started with dog #25 at 7:02 am.

A total running time of 10 hours and 10 minutes averaged out to take 7.5 minutes per dog that completed this test. (87 total)

In the 4th Series we had the following happen ...

No Birds/Reruns - 9: #25(2x), 39, 44(2x), 55, 84, 86 and 91
Handles - 4: #12, 16, 32, 75 and 93
Pick Ups - 2: #83 & 97

This will conclude our third day here at the NRC Championship.

We will start Series 5 tomorrow morning with the test dog to the line at 6:30 am and the first running dog #31 at 7:00 am.

End of Day Two … Recap

Our second day here in Corning has come to the at 4:51 pm.

We started the day finishing up our combined Series 2 & 3 Land/Water Blind at 6:34 am with dog #4 starting it out. The test was completed the series with dog #80 at 1:43 pm. Dog #76 Abbey retired when it was her turn to run. The callbacks of 87 dogs were announced at the 4th Series Water Triple with an Honor. Dog #6 started the series at 2:39 pm, and dog #24 was the last running dog of our 2nd day of competition. We had two dogs handle: #12 & 16.

Our first running dog tomorrow will #25. We will meet back at test site to complete our 4th Series.  We will have one test dog at 6:30 am, with the first running dog to follow.

In The Books - Series 2 & 3 - Land/Water Blind

We have finished the second and third series in the second day of competition at  1:42 pm.

This combined series started at 2:46 pm on Saturday, November 9 and finished for the day at 4:56 (two hours and ten minutes). We then continued the series at 6:34 this morning and now just completing it in seven hours and eight minutes. It took a total of 9 hours 18 minutes to get 98 dogs through the combined 2nd and 3rd series. This averages to just under six minutes per dog to complete the tests.

Everything so far is running very smoothly. We had dog #76 Abbey retire during this series due to medical reasons. Abbey has had a great career with 2014 and 2017 National Open finalist and competing in the 2018 Open and the 2016 & 2019 Amateur. She has a total of 68.5 Open points, 46 Amateur points and 8 Derby points. We wish Abbey the best on her retirement.

The callbacks will be given at the next test site. As soon as we get you will have them right here on the Retriever News 2019 NRC Championship Blog.

End of Day - Saturday, November 9 - 2nd & 3rd Series

Dog # 3 Max is our last running dog on our first day of the running of the 2019 National Retriever Club Championship at 4:56 pm.

Starting the day with Series One - Land Double with a Flyer at 7:13 am, 98 dogs completed the series and all of them got called back to the 2nd & 3rd Series - Land / Water Blind which started at 2:46 pm. We began with dog #81.

We will continue with this 2nd and 3rd Series Land / Water Blind tomorrow with only one test dog being called to the line at 6:45 am and the first running dog # 4 Tucker at 7:00 am.

In The Books - 1st Series

It is a wrap for Series One at 1:54 pm.

This test smoothy starting at 7:13 am with dog #56 Scrapper with handler Ray Voigt starting the 2019 NRC Championship! We had 98 dogs completing this series in 6.5 hours. This averages the time of just under 8 minutes per dog to completed this test.

So is how the 1st Series - Land Double with a Flyer panned out...

We had 3 dogs scratch: #30, 42 and 88.
We had 3 gun changes: 9:05 am after dog #81; 10:47 am after dog #6 and the final one at 12:26 pm after dog #31.
